WELCOME to our Jack Russell page. Jacks have got to be one of the most enjoyable breeds of dogs. We've had them for some time, and each one has been totally unique. Talk about fun! There's never a dull moment when there's a Jack around. They're very busy dogs. I wouldn't call them hyper-active, but they seem to be doing something all the time. But, there is "quiet" time. They love to cuddle, and watch TV. Being small, on an average of 12" to 18" tall, they're very adept at finding that perfect spot on the bed at night. As you can tell, they're people dogs. They do well around children, and for the most part, they do well around other dogs--but not around cats! We've had them grow up around them, groom them, but at some point, the cat is going to run, and that just triggers the Jack's hunter instinct. I don't believe they intentionally hurt them, but they have such sharp teeth, and powerful jaw muscles--well let's just say that the cat does not do well in the encounter. Jack's where bred to be hunters. They where used to enter burrows, and "catch" their query there. To this day, they love to burrow! In fact, there are competions held that duplicates this scenario. Jacks are very single-minded. When they make up their minds about something, it's hard to get them to change it. And fearless, I've seen them stand their ground against a twelve hundred pound horse! In fact, if you have a larger, aggressive dog, particularly a same sex, a Jack might not be for you. There has been occasions when we've refused a sale because we felt that, due to their personality traits, that it just wasn't a good situation. Our Jacks are registered with the Jack Russell Registry. We've had tri-color, one's with just two colors; smooth coats, and rough coats--all in the same litter. You just don't know what they're going to look like until they hit the ground. When they do hit the ground, its usually at a run!
